Niel has 30 years of experience in education and has lived on the south coast since 1995. Niel is currently an education development executive for an IT company having previously worked as a secondary teacher and head teacher. Niel has been a school governor throughout his school career and has experience of supporting and monitoring schools as an Ofsted inspector, director of education and an education consultant.
Chris is the owner/Director of Pump Engineering in Littlehampton and Chairman of the South West Sussex Table Tennis League. He hopes that his contribution to the Board provides a viewpoint that is not connected with education. As an employer, he feels that he has skills to offer, it helps him to understand the education system better and he can put a business point of view forward.
Kelly feels very passionately about the support a diverse Governing Body can offer. She brings a wealth of HR experience and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She acts as a critical friend to the academy’s leadership team and is not afraid to challenge and offer constructive advice while supporting the academy's core values.
Kelly currently works as an Enterprise Adviser, supporting skills development and careers programmes across Arun & Chichester. Her strong local business and education community links help to support the development and growth of the pupils' skills and qualities.
Derry is a parent here at Six Villages and also governor and parent at a feeder primary. Having spent her career in education, both as a teacher and senior leader, in more recent years she has been leading on CPD development and eLearning nationally and internationally. Living locally Derry now works with the local authority as a school Link Advisor responsible for the professional learning and development across maintained schools and governance in West Sussex. Interior design and historic novels keep her busy outside of family and work.
Stephen has lived in the local area since 2000 with his wife and two daughters. He is the Technical Manager and director of a large local horticultural business in the Eastergate area. Additionally he represents ornamental growers on various industry research and accreditation bodies. Stephen grew up and was educated in Shrewsbury and then subsequently at Reading University where he gained a BSc Hons and a PhD in Horticulture. He wants to bring his experiences both academically and commercially to help further the development of learning at the academy.
Lisa has worked in the charity sector for 25 years and has a wealth of experience within charity fundraising and communications. She is currently part of the senior management team for a local charity, working with the board of Trustees to deliver high quality services. Lisa grew up in the local area, and has travelled and lived abroad in Africa and Australia, so hopes to bring a varied and diverse perspective to the governing body. She has two daughters attending the school and is looking forward to supporting the leadership team to help develop high quality education for all.
Klara has worked in education for a decade. Initially teaching Secondary History and Religious Studies, she specialised in teaching, learning, and curriculum development before having senior leadership responsibility for areas such as Student Voice, Careers, Enrichment, teacher training & PSHE, which was the focus of her NPQSL.
Klara is incredibly passionate about creating the best quality teaching & learning experiences for students and providing a wealth of enrichment opportunities beyond the classroom to grow the ‘whole child.’ She is currently a member of the OAT Strategy Team and leads the #iwill project across the Southern and Eastern regions, with the aim to get OAT students engaged in meaningful youth social action to make a positive difference to themselves, their communities and their academies.
